ShedHive Terms of Use Draft
Draft dated 12 October 2026. ShedHive at shedhive.au is operated by William Thomas Creative, ABN 45 604 711 840. Contact: [email protected].
These draft terms cover the platform, accounts and community content. They must be checked against the operator's legal identity, shed participation agreements and actual service before registration opens. The launch age policy remains to be confirmed; this draft assumes accounts are for adults aged 18 or over. Any service for minors needs a separate design and legal review.
Your account
Provide accurate account information, use an email address you control and protect your login details. Do not share an account. Managers and platform administrators must use two-factor authentication. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. We may verify information or restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect the service.
One account can apply to join several sheds. Each shed decides whether to approve membership and controls its own activities, fees, eligibility, inductions and safety rules, subject to applicable law. Platform registration does not guarantee shed membership, permission to use machinery or eligibility for a particular activity.
The platform and participating sheds
ShedHive provides software for shed communications, membership administration, stock records, projects, events and job requests. Unless expressly agreed otherwise, a participating shed is responsible for its own activities, staff and volunteers, premises, work, prices, receipts, insurance, safety and member decisions.
A manager must have authority to act for the shed. Managers may use member information only for legitimate shed administration and must respect confidentiality, applicable privacy obligations and members' choices. Platform administrators appoint or remove manager access; managers approve ordinary members within their authorised sheds.
Job requests quotes and payment
Submitting a job request asks the selected shed to review the work. It is not an acceptance of the job by the shed. The shed should state the scope, price, expected timing and any conditions before work starts. The submitting member must accept the quote. Changes in price or scope require a new agreement between the shed and the member; a manager must not silently alter an accepted quote.
Payments are made directly at the shed through the methods it accepts. ShedHive records payment details entered by an authorised manager; it does not process card payments in the initial service. The shed is responsible for issuing receipts, explaining tax treatment, resolving payment discrepancies and providing remedies required by law. A platform payment record is not proof that a bank transfer has cleared.
Contact the shed first about workmanship, collection, cancellation or refunds. Contact ShedHive about account or software problems. Nothing in these terms removes consumer rights or guarantees that apply to the shed's work or to our service.
Events and safety
Event information may change. Check with the organiser before attending. Follow the shed's applicable safety rules and supervision requirements. Online membership or a job ticket is not a safety induction, trade qualification, insurance policy or authorisation to use tools. Organisers remain responsible for lawful and safe activities within their control.
Community conduct
Be respectful. Do not harass, threaten, discriminate, impersonate others, publish unlawful material, send spam or try to access another person's account or another shed's private records. Do not upload confidential information, unsafe instructions, payment card details or content you are not entitled to share. Report misuse to your shed manager or [email protected].
Your content and publication permission
You retain rights you hold in your content. You give ShedHive a non-exclusive licence to store, display and transmit that content as needed to operate the service and according to your selected visibility. Public showcase content may be displayed on the platform while it is published. This licence does not transfer ownership or authorise unrelated advertising use of personal stories or images.
Before publishing identifiable names, photographs or stories, obtain appropriate permission from the people involved and ensure the content can lawfully be shared. Managers must distinguish private shed records from public projects and events. Public content may be indexed or copied by third parties; we cannot guarantee removal of copies outside our control.
We may restrict or remove content reasonably believed to breach these terms or applicable law, with reasons and an opportunity to raise concerns where practical. Urgent safety, security or legal matters may require immediate action.
Privacy
Our draft Privacy Policy explains platform information handling. A shed may separately handle information outside ShedHive and should provide its own notices. Agreement to these terms is not blanket consent to collect sensitive information or publish personal images.
Availability and changes
We use reasonable care in providing the platform but do not promise uninterrupted access. Maintenance, network failures or events outside our reasonable control may affect availability. Sheds should maintain practical arrangements for urgent communications and essential operational records when the service is unavailable.
We may make reasonable changes to functions or these terms. We will give appropriate notice of material changes and an opportunity to stop using the service. Changes will not remove accrued rights or apply retrospectively to agreed shed jobs. Any future paid platform plan must clearly state price, billing, renewal and cancellation terms before agreement; these terms do not impose a subscription fee.
Suspension closure and review
You may request account closure by contacting [email protected]. Leaving one shed does not automatically close your platform account or cancel outstanding work agreed with that shed. Necessary records may be retained as explained in the Privacy Policy and applicable law.
We may suspend an account or manager access on reasonable grounds, including serious misuse, security risk or legal requirements. We will provide reasons and a review contact where lawful and practical. For disputed shed membership decisions, first ask that shed to review the decision; contact us about misuse of platform access.
Consumer rights and responsibility
Australian Consumer Law and other non-excludable legal rights continue to apply. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies a right, guarantee or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified. Liability for our own conduct is determined under applicable law. These terms do not impose a blanket waiver, broad indemnity or arbitrary liability cap.
Where a shed independently provides goods or services, the shed is responsible for its obligations relating to those goods or services. Calling an organisation a volunteer shed does not automatically remove consumer-law obligations.
Complaints and governing law
Contact [email protected] about platform complaints and include the relevant shed and issue. We aim to acknowledge a complaint within seven days and respond within 30 days, explaining if more time is needed. You retain access to relevant regulators, tribunals and courts.
Australian law applies, including mandatory consumer protections. This clause does not require you to give up any forum or remedy available under applicable law. Confirm the operator's principal place of business before adding a specific state-law or court-jurisdiction clause.
